Iranian films line up for Dubai festival

TEHRAN -- Iranian films will go on display at the Dubai International Film Festival which will be held from December 12 to 19.
“Salve” by Alireza Davudnejad, “Amin” by Shahin Parhami (a joint production of Iran, Canada and South Korea), “The House under the Water” by Sepideh Farsi (a joint production of Iran, Morocco, Netherlands, Germany and France) and “Please Do Not Disturb” by Mohsen Abdolvahab will go on screen at the Muhr Asia Africa Feature section of the festival.
The Cinema of the Asia Africa section of the festival will screen the joint production of Iran and France “The Hunter” by Rafi Pitts.
Vocalist Qorbani to tour France with Khayyam concerts
TEHRAN -- Vocalist Alireza Qorbani will accompany the Khayyam music project tour in different countries including France and the Netherlands in the near future.
Composer Ali Qamsari, kamancheh virtuoso Sohrab Purnazeri and several virtuosos and vocalists from different countries will accompany the project.
They will give performances in different languages including Persian, Arabic and English.
Zurkhaneh Day registered on Iran’s lunar calendar
TEHRAN -- Iran’s Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance announced that 17 Shawwal will be the date registered as Heroic Deeds and Rituals of Zurkhaneh Day on the Iranian calendar of events.
The day marks the anniversary of the killing of Quraish boasting champion Amr ibn Abd al-Wud by Imam Ali (AS) during the fortnight Battle of the Trench (5AH).
Iranian museum to hold retrospective of Italian architect
TEHRAN -- The Sadabad Palace Museum plans to hold a retrospective of renowned Italian architect and designer Michele De Lucchi on December 2.
De Lucchi’s works will be discussed by Iranian scholars and critics during the retrospective at the Negarestan Museum of the Sadabad Palace Museum in Tehran.
Iranian animation curtain raiser at Boston theater
TEHRAN -- The acclaimed short animation “Soar” by Iranian photographer Akbar Nazemi will go on screen at the Boston theater.
The short animation “Soar” will go on screen at the Coolidge Corner Theater before each screening.
The three-minute animation is about a caged bird who is aided to freedom by his feathered friends..
