Hoeness stands firm on Dzeko price

Wolfsburg have reiterated that only a bid of €40 million would be enough to buy Edin Dzeko amid reports Real Madrid are interested in the striker.

Dzeko, who ended last season as the top scorer in the Bundesliga with 22 goals, has also been linked with the likes of Manchester United and AC Milan but Wolfsburg sporting director Dieter Hoeness will not let the Bosnian international go cheaply.
""The price is not a secret - Dzeko is €40 million,"" Hoeness told Spanish daily AS. ""There are many teams interested in Dzeko.""
Despite the rumors that Real are the latest club to show an interest in Dzeko, Hoeness insisted no official approach had yet been made.
""We have not received any call from Madrid,"" he said. ""I myself met (Real president) Florentino Perez and (director general) Jorge Valdano when I went to the Bernabeu to see Real Madrid-AC Milan and it was never mentioned.
""We do not comment on speculation.''
The player himself insisted he was concentrating on Wolfsburg, telling German newspaper Bild: ""There are many rumors, but it is too early to say what will happen. I'm focused on Wolfsburg.''
His agent Irfan Redzepagic was less circumspect, though, saying: ""It would be foolish to say no to Madrid.''
