Galaxy: Beckham going nowhere
December 23, 2010 - 0:0
David Beckham's hopes of going to a European club on loan could be thwarted after L.A. Galaxy said they expected him to report back for pre-season training.
Beckham is entering the final season of his five-year, $32.5 million contract but admitted this week that he was seeking to move on loan this winter. He has spent two spells on loan already with AC Milan, but this year the Galaxy are reluctant to send him out on loan again after he ruptured an Achilles tendon while playing in March.
""We are not aware that David is looking to be loaned to any other team and we are fully expecting he reports with the rest of his Galaxy teammates in late January for the upcoming season,"" the Galaxy said on Monday in a statement.
Having missed the first six months of the MLS season, Beckham had also previously said he was focused on returning to full fitness rather than seeking another loan move, but he now appears to have revived the prospect of temporarily joining another club.
