“Life in War” hits Iranian bookstores

TEHRAN – Iranian photographer Majid Saeidi’s book “Life in War”, which was previously published in the U.S., has recently been distributed in Iranian bookstores.
Published by FotoEvidence in 2014, the collection of black and white photos provides a humanistic focus on people who live in war torn Afghanistan.


Alireza Qorbani’s “Éperdument” released in France

TEHRAN -- Acclaimed Iranian vocalist Alireza Qorbani’s latest album “Éperdument” (“Lost in Love”) has been released by Accords Croisés in Paris.

The album contains works by Persian classical poets Rumi and Abu-Saeid Abul-Kheir, and also songs by contemporary poets Mohammadreza Shafiei Kadkani, Fereidun Moshiri and Aref Qazvini.


“Blue-Eyed Boy” scoops top prizes at Indian filmfest

TEHRAN – Iranian acclaimed drama “Blue-Eyed Boy” emerged as the big winner at the 1st Ahmednagar International Short Film Festival (AISFF), scooping best film, best actor, and best director.

Directed by Amir-Masud Soheili, “Blue Eyed Boy” tells the story of a young boy with an unusual type of color blindness that causes him to see the world in blue.

Soheil Soheili won the award for best actor at the AISFF, which was held in the historical Indian city of Ahmednagar on May 16 and 17.


Veteran stage actor Mostafa Abdollahi goes into coma

TEHRAN -- Veteran actor/director Mostafa Abdollahi went into a coma on Wednesday, his wife, Nahid Ruzbehani, told the Persian service of MNA.

Abdollahi, who has been suffering from cancer over the past thirteen years, was admitted to Tehran’s Parsian Hospital on May 8.

In late April, he hired a cast of 17 actors to stage Russian playwright Maxim Gorky’s “The Lower Depths”.

The play is currently on stage at the main hall of Tehran’s City Theater Complex.


Iranian literati attend Astrakhan conference

TEHRAN – Three Iranian literati are attending a three-day conference, which opened in the southern Russian city of Astrakhan on Tuesday.

The literati are poet Javad Mohaqeq, novelist Reza Amirkhani and writer Mehdi Qazali.

The conference has been organized to discuss the development of modern literature in the five Caspian Sea nations of Iran, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation.
