Iranian cartoonists honored at Brazilian exhibition

TEHRAN – Iranian cartoonists Atefeh Yarian, Ali Mirai, and Nasrin Sheikhi have received honorable mention at the 42nd International Exhibition of Piracicaba Humor, which is currently underway in the Brazilin city.

A panel including Brazil’s State Secretary of Culture Marcelo Araújo and cartoonists Laerte Coutinho, Nani Mosquera and Cristina Sampaio judged the works at the exhibition, which runs until October 4.

Iranian translator working on “Luminaries”, “Rehearsal”

TEHRAN – Iranian translator Salma Rezvanju is currently working on Canadian-born New Zealand author Eleanor Catton’s novels “The Luminaries” and “The Rehearsal”.

Catton’s debut novel “The Rehearsal” was released by Victoria University Press in New Zealand in 2008. It won several awards including the 2007 Adam Award in Creative Writing, the 2009 Betty Trask Award.

Published in August 2013, her second novel “The Luminaries” won the Man Booker Prize of the year.

Persian versions are scheduled to be published by Tehran-based Shurafarin Publications in the near future.
