Cinéma Vérité announces intl. lineup

TEHRAN -- The 9th Cinéma Vérité announced the international lineup for various categories of the Iranian international festival for documentary films last week.

Twelve films will be competing in the short category.

“Beyond the Hills” directed by Elvin Adigozel and Ramil Adiloglu from Azerbaijan, “The Shepherd’s Song” Vahram Mkhitaryan from Armenia, “Tyndall” by Fatima Bianchi from Italy, “Kacey Mottet Klein, Birth of an Actor” by Ursula Meier from Switzerland and “Balance” (“Gleichgewicht”) by Bernhard Wenger from Austria are among the films.

Eight films, including “Allan, Man at the Age of Christ” by Arko Okk from Estonia and “End of the World” by Monika Pawluczuk from Poland, will be screened in the mid-length category.

“Ella Maillart: Double Journey”, a Swiss-Italian joint production by Antonio Bigini and Marian Lewinsky will also be shown in the section.

In the full-length section, seven documentaries, including Danish-Polish joint production “Something Better to Come” by Hanna Polak, will compete.

In addition, British filmmaker Mark Cousins’ “I Am Belfast” and Scottish director Lou McLoughlan’s “16 Years till Summer” are among the films competing in this section.

Over 70 documentaries from Iranian filmmakers will be screened in the national competition of the 9th Cinéma Vérité, which is organized every year by the Documentary and Experimental Film Center and will be held in Tehran from December 13 to 19.
