Iranian troupe to stage “Somewhere in Nowhere” in Germany

TEHRAN – The Iranian theater troupe Ayna led by director Alireza Kushk-Jalali plans to perform “Somewhere in Nowhere” at the National Theatre Mannheim in Germany on December 9 and 10.

Sirus Mostafa and Ali Fotuhi are the main members of the cast for the play, which is based on English writer Daniel Defoe’s 1719 novel “Robinson Crusoe”.

The National Theatre Mannheim, notable for being the oldest local theatre in Germany, was once home to the Mannheim school of 18th-century classical composers.


“Middle East Cradle of Civilization” appears in Persian

TEHRAN – “Middle East Cradle of Civilization” by Australian archaeologist Stephen Bourke has been recently released in Persian by Qoqnus Publications.

Rendered into Persian by Shahrbanu Saremi, the book explores history, religion, arts, science and architecture of the Middle East.

The book originally was released by Global Book Publishing in 2008.



Moradi Kermani undergoes heart surgery

TEHRAN – Celebrated Iranian writer Hushang Moradi Kermani underwent a heart surgery at Tehran’s Mehr General Hospital on Thursday.

The 71-year-old author is now receiving continuous monitoring and treatment at the coronary care unit (CCU) of the hospital.

Moradi Kermani is an eminent writer of books primarily for children and teenagers. However, his works also appeal to adults. A number of his books have been translated into English, German, French, Spanish, Dutch, Arabic and Armenian.
