Persepolis football team defeated Rah Ahan 2-0 in the 15th round of Iran Professional League on Friday at Tehran’s Shahre Qods stadium.

Mehdi Taremi, who was under pressure by the fans and media for the recent performances, scored a brace to help Persepolis climb up to fourth in the table.

“I would like to dedicate this victory to Persepolis fans that came to the stadium to support us. I’m happy that we are progressing to the top of the table and hopefully we can continue this run,” Branko Ivankovic told reporters.

In the other games of the week, this season’s dark horse Esteghlal Khouzestan edged past third-placed Zob Ahan to return top of the table with 32 points. Mehdi Zobeydi scored the sole goal of the match in the 77th minute.
Elsewhere, Sepahan was held to 1-1 draw against Padideh in Mashhad, Foolad grabbed a late 1-1 draw against Gostaresh thanks to the 94th minute goal of Hossein Ebrahimi while Malavan and Siah Jamegan played out a goalless draw in Anzali.
