ICRO says Iran seeks to boost cultural relations with Arab countries

TEHRAN – Iran’s Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) has said that the organization is seeking to expand its cultural relations with the Arab countries through a variety of programs and meetings.

“ICRO has decided to resume its cultural dialogue with the Arab countries to improve its cultural relations,” ICRO Director Abbuzar Ebrahimi-Torkaman said in a press release on Friday.

“The first round of talks will begin at the upcoming Tehran International Book Fair to be held in May 2016,” he said.

He added that ICRO has also arranged a meeting named “Iran-Arab Cultural Relations” to be held at the Qatar Foundation on January 13, 2016.

Several scholars from Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Palestine, the UAE (United Arab Emirates), Spain and Iran will attend the meeting to discuss cultural relations between Iran and the Arab countries.

Several meetings have also been arranged to be held in Lebanon and Tunisia as well, he announced.

Moreover, a permanent secretariat has been established to promote Iran-Arab cultural dialogue nationwide.

The secretariat also aims to continues cultural relations with Arab scholars and organize joint meetings with Arab and Iranian scholars on cultural issues.
