Iran adopted ‘wise’ path in nuclear talks: Larijani

TEHRAN – Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani has said that the path taken in the nuclear talks was “wise” and this will result in “breaking sanctions” and “accelerating economic growth”.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran makes efforts to bring the path it has chosen to fruition.” Larijani said in a meeting in Qom on Tuesday.

However, he warned, Iran will take decision in response to “mischievous acts”.

“I hope the Western countries would act wisely… and behave correctly,” said the top lawmaker who acted as chief nuclear negotiator in the early years of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s presidency and held several rounds of talks with the then EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana.

Iran has protested a congressional decision which puts visa restrictions on citizens from 38 countries, mostly Europeans, who have visited Iran over the past five years, a move which Tehran has said would violate the terms of the nuclear agreement.

European countries have also complained about the congressional law, saying it will limit business with Iran.

Iran and the 5+1 group - the United States, Britain, France, China and Russia plus Germany - finalized the text of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in Vienna on July 14.

The nuclear accord has entered its implementation stage as Iran shipped 11 tons of its enriched uranium to Russia on Monday and received 197 tons of nuclear materials in exchange.
