Shahid Rajaei Hospital’s lodging unit inaugurated

TEHRAN — Tehran’s Shahid Rajaei Cardiovascular Hospital inaugurated a lodging unit aimed at providing a temporary stay for those who accompany their patients, most often those who are from cities other than Tehran.

The unit was inaugurated on Thursday in the presence of Health Minister Hassan Qazizadeh- Hashemi, IRNA reported.
The lodging is stretching over 7,500 square meters and some 150 billion rials (nearly $4.3 million) is spent on its construction.

On the sidelines of the inaugural ceremony, Qazizadeh-Hashemi mentioned the efforts made by President Rouhani for the “health reform plan” and that Shahid Rajaei Cardiovascular Hospital is an emblem of this plan.

In line with the plan various successful projects have been implemented in the hospital, he added.

The minister additionally thanked the philanthropist, Ahmadinia, who endowed a large sum of money for the lodging to be constructed appreciating his altruistic decision.

Qazizadeh-Hashemi further expressed hope for the inauguration of a hospital equipped with 1,000 beds with the help of such benefactors in the near future.

Shahid Rajaei Cardiovascular Medical and Research Center is one of the largest heart hospitals in Asia. The hospital became fully operational in 1972 with a capacity of 400 nominal beds.
