TEHRAN – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Sunday that the U.S. should be more active in implementing the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.

In some areas, the U.S. has not made efforts to the extent that it is expected to make; however, Iran’s banking transactions have not been reduced, he said in a press conference.

He said Iran will immediately respond to any violation in implementing the deal.

Iran and the 5+1 group (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany) implemented the JCPOA in January.

Rouhani further said the economic situation of the country will be improved in the next Iranian calendar year.

Elsewhere, he said that mass participation of the people at elections proved the fact that the Iranians trust on the system, the government and the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

The people’s mass participation in the elections further strengthened the pillars of the system, Rouhani added.

He also thanked all the officials who encouraged the people to participate in the elections.

Elsewhere, Rouhani said that a parliament which is obedient to the government does not exist in Iran.

Although, he explained, all three branches of the government should work alongside each other to resolve the nation’s problems with least disputes.

The Parliamentary and Assembly of Experts elections were held simultaneously on February 26.

The President called the current Iranian year “a historic year” which remains in the memory of Iranians forever.
