TEHRAN – In a recent letter to Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani, 47 student associations called for a law to be approved by the parliament which would require Iran to cancel its membership of the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
As a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency and a signatory to the NPT, Iran has the right to produce nuclear fuel.
However, Tehran has come under great pressure from certain Western countries for its nuclear program, which they claim has diverted to nuclear weapons production.
