Smuggled goods worth $2b seized in Iran in 6 months

TEHRAN — Smuggled goods worth 70 trillion rials (nearly $2 billion) were seized over the past six months in Iran, the head of the anti-smuggling task force said on Monday.

Mentioning the importance of strong interaction between bodies in charge of fighting smuggling Habibollah Haqiqi stated that stronger interaction between the responsible organizations would result in a more effective anti-smuggling procedures.

Using the public, non-governmental organizations, and unions potential will be also helpful in diminishing smuggling, Haqiqi noted.

He further noted that what they seek by seizing smuggling goods is to help promote domestic products market.
