Iranian cultural festival opens in Uruguay

TEHRAN – The University of the Republic (Universidad de la Republica) in Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay, is playing host to an Iranian cultural festival.

Exhibitions displaying handicrafts, traditional costumes, carpets and miniature paintings from Iran have been arranged at the Faculty of Information and Communication.

In addition, a collection of photos of some natural attractions of Iran are on view in an exhibition.

Darvag, an Iranian traditional music ensemble, is scheduled to give several performances during the festival, which opened on Monday and will close on Friday.

A lineup of movies from Iranian directors is slated to be screened during the event. Several Iranian scholars are in Montevideo to deliver speeches on Persian history and civilization.
