ABUJA Nigerian Vice President Atiku Abubakar was trapped for 18 minutes in an elevator in a building he was about to officially open here, sending his aides into a panic, spokesman Chris Mammah told AFP Tuesday. Abubakar became stuck on Monday after the lift jammed at the brand new Abuja office of the West African Examination Council, the body which organizes school examinations in English-speaking countries across the region, Mammah said, confirming newspaper reports of the incident.
It took 18 minutes before technical staff at the complex could fix the fault and release the vice president who kept his cool throughout the incident.
