IRGC and its important role in countering security threats and safeguarding Islamic Revolution

January 9, 2018

TEHRAN - Iran, unlike countries that, without relying on the pillars of power inside to achieve national security, tend to be in the process of uniting and winning a few foreign powers, it is fully reliant on domestic capabilities and capabilities.

Therefore, reliance on internal elements and elements of national power to ensure security within the country is an approach that is defined within the strategy of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The same issue has caused the internal borders of the Islamic Republic of Iran to have lasting security despite the fact that the West Asia and the Middle East face a lot of security challenges. Of course, this stable security is not pleasant to some of the neighboring countries and trans-national powers such as the United States, and these efforts have been made by these countries to undermine national authority in Iran.

One of the challenges that the Islamic Republic of Iran faces and will face is the enemy's attempt to create a domestic crisis. Since the beginning of the revolution, interconnected strata of conspiracies and crises have been formed by domestic and foreign enemies with the aim of overthrowing and weakening the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The borderline in the quadrangle of the country and the presence of tens of countries in the periphery and neighborhoods of Iran have ensured security for the internal and external borders with various threats and challenges. Undoubtedly, it is difficult to maintain the security and confront these challenges in an environment around this wandering sea of turbulence and insecurity. However, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) plays a role in various areas to address these threats and there have been many successes in that.

Terrorist and takfirist groups like ISIL came from the weaknesses of the neighboring countries to confront them at a time close to the borders of Iran, but the presence of the Revolutionary Guards aimed at providing assistance to the Iraqi and Syrian governments and to stop the attacks of the rioters and their withdrawal from previous positions of border security. Iran has increased significantly in the western regions of the country.

One of the historical and cultural characteristics of the land of Iran was the existence of various tribes and religions that had been living in peaceful ways over the years. But in the meantime, the close proximity of these tribes and religions in the border areas and the efforts of some Arab and Turkish countries to influence these ethnic groups and to create ethnic crises in Iran, civil unconsciousness and the strengthening of racial aspects have led some people to organize Some separatist groups created some unrest in a number of border provinces.

Along with this, there are some trends with religious perspectives such as Wahhabism, or Salafism, or extremist ideology, such as the PJAK group, across the Iranian border that also have foreign support, to provide ground for some sabotage activities early in the day. To face such a threat, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), unlike the Pahlavi era, which saw tribes and tribes as threats to the territorial integrity of Iran, used it as an opportunity to face threats. Undoubtedly, the IRGC's initiative and the cooperation of ethnic and religious groups played an important role in the failure of extreme ethnic and religious movements in areas such as Azerbaijan, Kurdistan and Khuzestan.

Since the Persian Gulf states do not have sufficient legitimacy among their people, instead of relying on domestic resources to secure and stabilize national authority, they will open up foreign powers such as the United States to the Persian Gulf region to maintain their strength. Experience has shown that Americans have never been honest in ensuring regional security even for their partners, and even to reproduce crisis factors in order to create fears and concerns among their Arab countries, in order to shield concern in There is always continuity between Arab statesmen. Such a situation has faced a lot of problems with the establishment of sustainable security in the area. One of these dilemmas is the smuggling of fuel in various forms and types in the Persian Gulf region, which has led to the withdrawal of large amounts of capital annually from the country.

Sistan and Baluchestan Province is considered as a disadvantaged country, which faced disasters such as the sale and distribution of drugs and the movements of the Wahhabi terrorist groups, along with the lack of development in the economic and agricultural spheres. The existence of such problems provided the basis for the activity of some Takfiri affiliates such as al-Furqan and Rigi. These militant groups killed a dozen of our compatriots in martyrdom until several years ago, with terrorist acts in the streets and public places. But the active presence of the IRGC in the area and the identification of the cultural, economic and social problems and problems of the province led to effective steps in removing social discontent.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has been active in the field of soft threats, and has also been influential in this regard. Soft Threat can overcome the mental calm of a nation and weaken the resistance and defend the values and policies of the system. Satellite networks, media and virtual spaces, drugs, the use of cinematic magic, the establishment of community associations in the form of animal protection, the environment, nutrition, psychotherapy, etc. Emphasizing the aspects of ethnicity, efforts in order to undermine the convergence in the country, promoting new religious movements and false mystics in the form of sectarianism, sectarianism and religious deviations and ... are among the areas that the enemy has entered into these areas.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps has used all of its capabilities to confront such social and cultural events, in order to confront these phenomena. Since the most important tool in this field is the media and the presentation of the message is the most important function of the media, hence the attempt to convey the message transmission methods mainly to the interactions based on the interaction of the audience. The existence of revolutionary forces in the integrated and flexible structure of the IRGC has made it possible to use the widespread mobilization capabilities of its various functions in this field.

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, while stressing the role of the IRGC in this regard: "It is a broader task and it is a cultural effort and effort ... And this fight is a cultural struggle, and I consider this duty to everyone as one of the greatest tasks, especially for the likes of you, the brothers of the Revolutionary Guards." I believe that cultural work is one of the most important figures of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps; it is not just the duty of the representative office ... the elements of the IRGC, the commanders of the various sectors and the commanders of the army should do cultural work. Correct and deep cultural work…”
Permanent monitoring of cultural and virtual space by utilizing specialist forces and gaining technical capability using modern technologies and on the one hand, having multidimensional exposure and flexibility based on soft threats including features of the IRGC presence in this Arena The full recognition of cultural phenomena and the recognition of the exact points of their power and their distinction between potential threats and imminent threats, the collection of complete information and presentation to the analyst organization, increased presence of forces in crisis centers, and ... Effective Strategy of the IRGC In dealing with soft hardships. Maintaining social solidarity and trying to manage tensions that cause gaps and disparities among the social strata is one of the priorities emphasized by this revolutionary institution.

Evidence suggests that the Revolutionary Guards, as guardians of the Islamic Revolution and the safeguarding of its achievements, have carried out multiple missions to secure lasting security in the Islamic Republic of Iran. On the one hand, it is working with the army to protect and defend the territorial integrity of the country, and on the other hand, it has put in place anti-security measures, spying and sabotage in the political, economic, cultural and cyberspace areas.
