Troupes from 12 countries competing in Fajr theater festival

TEHRAN – Thirteen theater troupes from 12 countries are competing in the 37th Fajr International Theater Festival, which opened on Monday.

Among the plays are “Only Bones” by Thomas Monckton from Finland, “Swarm” by Gabor Goda from Hungary, “Pity: Part 1” by Iraqi-Swedish director Anmar Taha from Sweden, “Notes by a Crazy Man” by Jannat Selim Ava from Azerbaijan and “The Small Theatre from the End of the World” by Ézéquiel Garcia-Romeu from France.

“Lift - Boys Will Be Boys” by Fehér Ferenc from Romania, “I Is Another – Rimbaud in Africa” by Lars Øyno from Norway, “The Sun Will Rise From Aleppo”, a joint production between Iran and Syria by Iranian director Kurosh Zarei and two more plays from Lebanon and Georgia are also in the lineup for the festival.

“Dialogue in the Wonderland” by Cologne-based Iranian director Alireza Kushk-Jalali from Germany and “I Put a Spell on You” by Brussels-based Iranian director Ehsan Hemat are also on stage in this section. 

The festival is also hosting a multimedia installation entitled “Passage” on the theme of memories by French artist Pierre Jodlowski.

The 37th Fajr International Theater Festival will run in Tehran until February 23.
