DAMASCUS Syrian President Bashar Assad on Monday met Lebanese Prime Minister Selim Hoss and the leader of the Lebanese resistance group Hizbollah, Hassan Nassrollah.
Presidential spokesman Jubran Kourieh said the two meetings discussed the Middle East, Southern Lebanon, cooperation between Syria and Lebanon and other issues of mutual interest.
Israeli troops were forced out of South Lebanon in May ending 18 years of occupation. Syria has had a 30,000-strong army in Lebanon since 1975 when it sent its troops in to quell civil war.
The Syrian president on Saturday met former President Elias Hrawi and former prime minister Rafik Hariri.
