Drought Record in Texas

FORT WORTH, Texas Texas went a record-breaking 59th day without rain Monday with meteorologists predicting the dry spell would continue for at least another week.
The U.S. state's previous longest rainless spell was the 58 days in succession experienced in 1934 and 1950.
Prayers for rain were held in many churches throughout the state on Sunday.
Monday was also the 36th day of the year in the Dallas and Fort Worth areas in which the temperature has reached 100 degrees Fahrenheit some 38 degrees Celsius or more.
Officials estimate that agricultural losses as a result of the drought amount to 595 million dollars.
