Average Income, Expenditure of Rural, Urban Households Rises

TEHRAN Iran's Statistics Organization said here Sunday that the average income and expenses of urban household increased by 2.2 percent and 22.56 percent respectively, in the last Iranian year (ended March 19) compared to the previous year.
It added that the average expense and income of rural households increased by 26.2 percent and 23.4 percent respectively, in the same period compared to the preceding year.
The average expenses of an urban household stood at Rls.20.703 million of which 29.9 percent (Rls.6.184 million) was spent on food, beverage and tobacco and the rest on other miscellaneous expenses.
The average revenue for an urban household topped Rls.18.565 million from various sources including Rls.5.948 million from salaries, Rls.5.429 million from secondary employment and Rls.7.188 million from miscellaneous sources.
The average rural household expenses stood at Rls.13.638 million 4.6 percent of which went to food, beverage and tobacco.
Last year the average income of an rural household was Rls.11.562 million, with 28 percent being earned from salaries, 52.2 percent from secondary employment and 19.8 percent from miscellaneous sources.
It also said that based on the figures the average income and expense of rural household witnessed an increase of 26.2 percent and 23.4 percent respectively last year compared to the previous year.
The figures were derived from data obtained from 27,565 sample households in rural and urban areas across the country, the report said.
