Iranian athletes banned for doping
TEHRAN - Anna Alikhani in shooting and Greco-Roman wrestler Mohammadhossein Mahmoudi tested positive for banned substance.
As a result of their violation, the athletes will be ineligible for competition and other sporting activities for a period of eight months and three years, respectively.
A urine sample was collected from Alikhani in the domestic league and the laboratory testing revealed that the sample contained the prohibited substance propranolol.
Propranolol is commonly used to treat high blood pressure, irregular heartbeat, performance anxiety, tremors and to prevent migraine headaches. It is known to have a performance-enhancing effect in shooting athletes and is banned at all times for athletes in shooting.
Alikhani is banned from April 27, 2024 to Oct. 28, 2024.
And Stanozolol found in sample of Mahmoudi and he will be ineligible from July 14, 2024 to July 14, 2027.
Stanozolol is an anabolic steroid commonly used in sports doping and veterinary practice. It is an anabolic steroid that is known to have a diuretic effect.
