PARIS Laurent Robert scored his seventh goal of the season on Friday night as Paris St. Germain beat archrivals Olympique Marseille 2-0 and moved to the top of the French first division.
Robert struck in the 62nd minute, scoring with a well-placed header from a Jimmy Algerino cross, as PSG recorded their sixth win in six home games this season.
Brazilian striker Christian made it 2-0 with a fine strike in injury time.
The victory gave the Paris side 21 points from 11 matches and sent them two points clear of previous leaders Bastia, who slumped to a 2-0 loss at home to defending champions Monaco.
Monaco scored twice in the space of two minutes.
**** Argentine international midfielder Marcelo Gallardo put them ahead with a long-range shot after 65 minutes and Haiti-born substitute Wagneau Eloi netted a second goal two minutes later to seal the win.
Bastia had won four of their five previous home matches this season but had no response to the quickfire double strike despite dominating the match for long periods.
Leading scorer Frederic nee and Brazilian defender Demetrius Ferreira both hit the woodwork before Gallardo scored for Monaco and then Nee hit the post with a header with 10 minutes left.
