TEHRAN Tehran's Justice Department has filed charges against four Iranians and a German national, all currently residing abroad and main figures in the Berlin conference, for acts endangering the national security, a reliable source told IRNA here Monday. The unnamed source mentioned their names as "Changiz Pahlavan," "Kazem Kordavani," "Bahman Niroumand," "Mahdi Ja'fari Gorzini," and "Thomas Hartmann," the German national who organized the conference.
The first cause of action against the group was their act of cooperating with agents of the terrorist group Mojahedin Khalq Organization (MKO) and other opposition groups to overthrow the Islamic government or threaten national security by organizing and/or attending the Berlin Conference. The second cause of action for which the group is to be tried is for "waging blatant propaganda against the Islamic Republic." "If they do not appear in court, they will be tried in absentia," the source said.
The April 7-8 conference in Berlin was organized by the Heinrich Boell Foundation to discuss the impact of the Sixth Parliament elections in Iran which significantly reversed majority power in the Majlis. Iranian participants of the conference have all been accused of being "counterrevolutionary," and are now being tried in open in Tehran's Islamic Revolutionary Court.
