Whose Interests PGCC Serves?
The Persian Gulf Cooperation Council in its statement at the end of its summit said that it supports Abu Dhabi for "its right to the three (Iranian Persian Gulf) islands and PGCC refusal to go along with their occupation by Iran."
The leaders underlined the "full sovereignty of the UAE over the islands, an integral part of the Emirates," according to AFP. We are sure the declaration has been issued under the pressure from certain circles with the PGCC and outside it, for some of the PGCC members are subservient to the U.S. and Britain. They in fact are ordered by London and Washington what to do and what not to do.
We are also confident that Saudi Arabia and some other PGCC members are moving toward distancing themselves from foreign pressures and are trying to stand on their own feet.
We hope that other Arab countries learn from these countries. We assure them that no country in the world, big or small, will be able to occupy even a single inch of the Iranian territory. Iraqi invasion of Iran must serve as a lesson for them.
