TEHRAN A student establishment deplored a ban recently imposed on a film directed by Ebrahim Hatami-Kia, an Iranian film director well-known for his war films.

The Islamic Society of Students of the University of Fine Arts, in a statement received by IRNA, also urged IRGC Commander Major General Rahim Safavi to prevent certain elements in the country from serving the aims of counterrevolutionary groups which are sought to be achieved through unpopular and anti-cultural activities.

The student establishment further said that distancing renown artists such as filmmaker Hatami-Kia from the Islamic Revolution and system is, in fact, serving the wish of all counterrevolutionary and revisionist groups.

The student establishment praised the efforts of Major General Safavi and other devoted commanders of the Islamic Revolution's Guard Corps (IRGC) rendered particularly during the 1980-1988 war against invading Iraqi forces, and warned against the continued activities of rogue elements masquerading as members of legitimate political and factional groups and who are actually seeking to destroy the revolution's cultural values, saying such activities would damage the reputation of the IRGC.
