Death Toll Rises to at Least 94 in Indonesian Landslides

JAKARTA The death toll in three days of landslides and flooding triggered by torrential rains in a district in the west of Java Island has risen to 94, officials said Monday. "Up to last night, we have recorded 94 deaths," said Eri Rachmat of the social affairs office in Rangkasbitung, the main city in Lebak district. Rachmat told AFP that 81 people were killed by landslides that hit villages in Cipanas subdistrict some 60 kilometers (37 miles) east of Jakarta.
