University Students Plastic Arts on Display in Tehran
The Education Deputy of Construction Jihad of Tehran University and the Secretary of the International Exhibition, Mojtaba Aqaei, said at a press conference Saturday that the works displayed at the exhibition are categorized in six different fields, namely photography, portraiture, decorative designs on the margins fine books' marginal design (tazheeb), calligraphy, painting, graphics and caricature.
According to an IRNA report, 244 works displayed at the fair are selected from among over 3,000 entries by the jurors of each artistic discipline. Aqaei referred to the event as the first international activity of the universities' jihad, adding that five similar exhibitions have so far been organized at national level by the University Construction Jihad.
The participant artists whose works are on display are from 150 countries and art universities across the Islamic countries.
He also referred to the warm welcome that the invitation of the organizers received at international level, that was manifested in reception of 3,000 artistic works in a short period.
The works presented at the exhibition are on one of the three subjects proposed by the organizers, namely Islam, Our Shared Inheritance,' The Muslim Youth' and Culture of Holding Dialogue in Islam.'
The exhibition will be open to public free of charge for a fortnight, according to Aqaei, and the Tehran Gallery is on the east side of the Tehran University's campus on Enqelab Ave.
