Temblor Jolts Iran City

BIRJAND A tremor measuring four degrees on the Richter scale on Saturday morning shook a bordering region with Afghanistan near Birjand city.
The Geophysics Institute of the Tehran University registered the quake at 07:54 local time and announced its epicenter some 420 kilometers from Mashhad city in Gazik region.
No report has been received so far on probable casualties or damage.
A resident of the region told IRNA on telephone that the quake had destroyed some of old houses and caused panic among citizens.
The tremor was followed by at least eight after-shocks by the time of this report.
