Tehran to Host Regional Conference on Ozone Layer Protection

TEHRAN A meeting of regional experts from South Asian countries on protecting the ozone layer will be held in Tehran from April 28 to May 1.

The annual meeting is held to assess the progress made by member countries of the Montreal Protocol, difficulties in implementing projects to ban the use of such materials and presenting practical solutions at the international and regional levels.

Representatives from China, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Maldives, Bangladesh, People's Republic of Korea and Mongolia will take part in the meeting.

Iran is among the first countries to ratify the Vienna Convention for the protection of the ozone layer and the Montreal Protocol banning the use of elements destructive to the ozone layer and support measures for its protection.
