BEIJING China executed 113 people on one day last week to mark the beginning of a new "strike hard" campaign against rising violent and organized crime, according to state media reports. In the southwestern city of Chongqing, 55 people were executed on Friday for violent crimes after public sentencing in a sports stadium, said the April 21 edition of the *** Chongqing *** daily, seen in Beijing on Monday. In Wuhan, capital of central Hubei Province, another 30 were executed on the same day for crimes including kidnapping, murder and theft, the *** Hubei *** daily reported.
