Champion Freestyle Wrestlers of Iran Return Home

TEHRAN The national freestyle wrestling team of Iran that had traveled to Mongolia for participating in the 15th Asian contests, arrived here Friday and was warmly welcomed by the people.

The Mongolia-based competitions ended last Sunday June 10 and Iran could snatch the Asian championship title by bagging five gold, two silver and one bronze medals and 75 points.

The people expressed their appreciation to the national heros by presenting them wreaths of flower and candies in the Mehrabad International Airport, IRNA reported.

The wrestlers of Iran's national team were: Mohammad Aslani, Behnam Tayyebi, Ali Babaei Ja'fari, Mahdi Hajizadeh, Amir Tavakkolian, Pejman Dorostkar, Alireza Heidari, and Alireza Rezaei.

Davoud Rakhsh-Khorshid and Touraj Kafaei-Mohammadnejad were the two substitute wrestlers of the team while Ebrahim Javadi, Mohsen Farahvashi, Mohsen Kaveh, Morteza Latifi, Mohammad Kermani, and Aziz Vagozari were the coaches and Heibatollah Zargaripour and Farajollah Shabnavard accompanied the Iranian team as judges.
