French Movie Hit "Amelie" Scores Another Prize ahead of Oscars
The Academie des Lumieres, a body grouping 200 foreign correspondents in Paris, awarded ***Amelie*** awards for best film, best actress for star Audrey Tautou, and best screenplay to director Jean Pierre Jeunet and writer Guillaume Laurant.
Best director went to Patrice Chereau for his English-language film ***Intimacy**** and best actor went to Michel Bouquet for ****Comment J'ai Tue Mon Pere*** (how I killed my father).
The honor for best foreign film was given to Britain's ***Billy Elliot****.
Since its release early last year, ****Amelie*** has racked up an impressive number of prizes in France and around the world.
It is also the frontrunner for the Cesars, France's version of the Oscars, which announces its category winners on March 2.
The Oscars ceremony, the hands-down biggest Kudos-fest in the world, is to be held March 24.
