U.S. Intends to Secure Its Interests in Region: MP
Speaking at a meeting on Australia's foreign policies, Kadivar expressed doubt that the U.S. was really concerned about Iraq's chemical weapons, and questioned why the U.S. did not react to the use of those weapons against the Iranian people during the 1980-88 war imposed by Iraq on Iran.
She said the U.S. presence in the Middle East region is meant to set up a new regional system to secure its interests and to carry forward certain objectives.
Such a system, she said, aimed to dominate the Central Asia and the Caspian Sea resources, to restrict the influence of China, to keep a close eye on nuclear activities of India and Pakistan, to control Iraq and to surround Iran as a country that has refused to accept the U.S. policies, IRNA reported.
Kadivar said any international anti-terrorism campaign has to be led by the United Nations and stressed that no country should expand its influence in the region under the pretext of fighting terrorism.
She added that the U.S. has always tried to transfer its own internal crisis to the outside world by launching military actions around the world to satisfy its public opinion.
