Feasibility Studies Underway for Construction of 3 Major Dams

SANANDAJ, Kurdestan Province Governor General of Kurdestan Province Assadollah Razani said here on Sunday that feasibility studies are underway for the construction of three major dams for transfer of extra water from western parts of Kurdestan Province to neighboring provinces.

Razani told a group of provincial planning officials that study on building the dams which began in 1939 was seriously followed from 1996.

He said a credit of Rls.10,000 billion has been earmarked for the project.

He added that once the dams are built, about 2.6 billion cubic meters of water flowing out from Kurdestan Province would be transferred to neighboring provinces through more than 120km of tunnels and 400km of canals.
