Deposits in Western Banks Fall Back to $14.4 bn in 2001

LONDON -- Iran's deposits with Western banks fell back by $1.5 bn last year after almost doubling in 2000, according to the latest figures from the Bank of International Settlement (BSI).

The basle-based bank reported that Iranian assets dropped to $ 14.4 bn by the end of 2001 after rising from $8.1 bn to dlrs 16 bn during the previous year.
