Bu-Ali Sina Petrochemical Complex Project to Be Operational Before Year-End

TEHRAN -- The Bu-Ali Sina Petrochemical Complex Project, currently under implementation in the Bandar Imam Khomeini Special Economic Zone, is expected to be completed in the second half of the current Iranian year 1381 (2002-2003).

The project was 72 percent physically implemented as of the end of the previous Iranian year, 1380.

According to the Public Relations Department of the Oil Ministry, engineering work on the project was awarded to a partnership consisting of a German company and the Engineering and Design Company of Shiraz.

The complex, once operational, is expected to produce 610,000 tons of chemical raw materials per annum. The raw materials are to be used in the production of polyester fibers as well as dyes, detergents, and industrial solvents.
