BOLTON, England -- France midfielder Youri Djorkaeff, who steered Bolton Wanderers away from Premier League relegation last season, has signed a new two-year contract, the club announced on Friday.
The 34-year-old World Cup winner, who had previously lost his place at Bundesliga side Kaiserslautern, joined Bolton in February in a deal lasting until the end of the season.
His four goals in 12 games, plus a series of assists, helped Wanderers pull out of their drop toward the relegation zone, Reuters reported.
Bolton said in a statement on Friday that Djorkaeff, who helped France win Euro 2000 as well as the 1998 World Cup, had signed a two-year deal subject to passing a medical.
