Iranian, Malaysian Officials Discuss Scientific Cooperation

TEHRAN -- Iran's Minister of Science, Research and Technology Mostafa Moin, in a meeting with Malaysia's Ambassador to Tehran Mazlan ibn-Mohamad here on Sunday, called for enhancement of the two countries' scientific cooperation.

The minister, referring to Iran's young and innovative population, said the government should attach great importance to the development of science.

Moin also expressed the hope that the two Muslim states would be able to establish a broad framework of cooperation to advance causes of the Muslim world.

The Malaysian ambassador, in response, referred to Kuala Lumpur's remarkable achievements in the scientific field, and expressed his country's readiness to pass on its experience and technology to the Islamic Republic of Iran. Mazlan ibn-Mohamad further described the results of Iranian President Mohammad Khatami's recent trip to Malaysia as "positive.
