TEHRAN -- Kouhgol is located in the heights of the Dena mountains, east of Sisakht, the capital of Dena district of Kohkilouyeh-Boyerahmad Province. Kouhgol is a beautiful and unique place that attracts many tourists.

Rare medicinal plants, beautiful flowers, snowcapped mountains, green areas and cool streams have made the place a potential summer tourist destination.

However, visitors complain that the bad condition of the road causes them difficulties.

Another visitor said that it is imposswible to keep your hand in the water of Kouhgol River for more than one minute because it is very cold. He added that Kouhgol is a very beautiful area which should be assiduously maintained.

The director of the Kohkilouyeh-Boyerahmad Touring and Tourism Organization, Jamshid Moini, said that renovation of the road and construction of a parking lot has begun and with the cooperation of the Natural Resources Organization trees are being planted on the banks of the Kouhgol River.

He added that Kouhgol is in a nature reserve and that conservationists fear this area could be destroyed.

He believes that Kouhgol is an attractive tourist site because of its natural beauty and added that the green areas near snowcapped peaks are its most attractive features.

Moini said that the world's rarest plants can be found in this area and that this is why Kohkilouyeh-Boyerahmad is known as a botanical garden.
