Chabahar seeks to Boost Tourism

TEHRAN -- The Director of Tourism Development at Chabahar Free Zone, said that the development of tourism industry has become the second most important priority.

"Chabahar's natural attractions, mild weather, ancient culture and traditions, archaeological and historical sites, together with its commercial attractions, predict a bright future for the tourism industry in the region," Seyed Mohammad Hosseini said.

He emphasized the importance of tourism council, the development of human resources and training, the improvement of transportation, and price control.

He also said that foreign investors would have no need to get permission in order to operate in Chabahar's tourism industry. At the moment, more than 200 travel agencies operate in the region.

About 1,000 tourists are expected to enter the region every day from the beginning of March 2003.
