Interpol's Duty, Maintaining Security at Home and Abroad

TEHRAN -- Maintaining security at home and carrying out justice across international borders are Interpol's prime duty, said Major Hamidreza Makhdoom of Iran's branch of the Interpol, in a report quoted by IRNA.

Makhdoomi, who was speaking to the reporters on the sidelines of the annual Islamic Republic of Iran's Law Enforcement Forces (LEF) exhibition added: "Through mutual cooperation between governments and nations, the Interpol was established to reduce international crime and enforce the law and maintain security in member countries.

Established in 1914 in Monaco, the organization was founded by a handful of police officers and 24 lawyers from across the world.
