TEHRAN -- Located beside Mellat Park in Rasht, Gilan Old Cottage has been selected as Research and Information Center for Iran Touring and Tourism Department in Gilan Province.

"A unique and interesting monument, the cottage dates back to more than one hundred years ago," said the head of the center Sima Jahanbin.

"Built in two stories with several vast rooms, the cottage has had no instance during the past fifty years," Jahanbin added.

She said that the aim of the selection is preserving the traditional architecture of the province and introducing the best local buildings. Jahanbin said, "The Research and Information Center for Iran Touring and Tourism Department of Gilan Province has recently been established to guide researchers and tourists."

According to Jahanbin, more than one hundred people visit the cottage for information every day.

Annually visited by more than three million foreign and domestic tourists, Gilan Province has numerous natural and historical tourist attractions.
