Hundreds of Women in Belgrade Rally Against War in Iraq
The demonstrators who were all wea ring black uniforms marched through Belgradestreets with their placards, shouting anti-U.S., anti-war slogans.
One of the organizers of the rally, Jasmina Tsanovic, told IRNA that the Belgrader women condemn both the U.S. warmonger policies against Iraq and the totalitarian regime of Saddam Hussain. She added, "We ask the government of Serbia and Monte Negro to end its neutral status toward Iraq crisis, and to start a dynamic policy aimed at seeking a peaceful solution to it." Tsanovic referred to the recent comments by Serbian Prime Minister Zervan Zincic regarding Iraq crisis, adding, "Maintaining neutrality in such cases would never guarantee global peace and security." She said, "Serbia has practically speaking been involved in all wars waged during the past two centuries in one way or the other, and that makes its remaining neutral toward the current Iraq crisis more suspicious and questionable."
