Water Conveyance Project Goes on Stream in Abadan and Khorramshahr

TEHRAN -- In the presence of Majlis speaker, ministers of energy and defense as well as representatives of Abadan and Khorramshahr in the Islamic Consultative Assembly, Eng. Shafiei, the deputy minister of energy as well as managing director of Water and Sewage Company and also other city officials, water conveyance project of Abadan and Khorramshahr was put into operational. Announced the above statement in a fax released by the Public Relations Dept. of Khuzestan Water and Sewage Company.

In the beginning of the opening ceremony, Majlis Speaker Hoj. Karrubi expressed his satisfaction for inauguration of this project and said that the said project was implemented by the industrious and indefatigable staff of Water and Sewage Company of the province.

Also, Eng. Bitaraf, the minister of energy referred to heavy responsibility of Ministry of Energy in providing potable and wholesome water for cities and villages of the country, adding that water conveyance project for 250 cities is at the top agenda of the ministry in the year 2003 (started March 21).

He mentioned the other objectives for water conveyance of 4,000 villages and rural complexes during the current Iranian year.

In the end, concerning the importance of water conveyance project to Abadan and Khorramshahr, Eng. Bitaraf said that with implementation of this project, it is supposed that quality of Abadan and Khorramshahr potable water would be as good as the quality of Ahvaz drinking water.
