Scientist Warns Against Nation's Lower Population Growth

Professor Mohammad Jahanfar, 70, is an Iranian sociologist and expert in demography and population studies. He has conducted numerous analyses related to population trends in Iran and abroad. Jahanfar has worked closely with the United Nations. He is an associate professor at the University of Tehran and has written eleven books on related subjects. In 28 years of active work in the field of demographic studies, he has taken part at numerous training and research programs in India, Egypt, Britain, Hungary, Australia and China.

In an interview with TEHRAN TIMES correspondent, Professor Jahanfar explained a portion of an article related to the impact of life expectation on population replacement. The article reviews the effect of mortality changes during different anthropological periods and the effect of mortality reduction on population increase, age distribution and fertility.
