MADRID (AFP) -- Dutch PSV Eindhoven coach Ronald Koeman was on Wednesday tipped by the Spanish press to take over the coaching vacancy at Valencia.

Valencia refused to confirm or deny the speculation linking them to Koeman but a spokesman for the club told AFP: ""When it's official we will post the information on our website.""
Valencia sacked previous coach Quique Sanchez Flores on Sunday night following a 3-0 defeat at Sevilla.
The club sit fourth in the Spanish table but had lost four of their previous five matches, including two in the Champions League.
Koeman, a former central defender, knows La Liga after playing for Barcelona from 1989 to 1995, including winning a Champions League title in 1992, and was assistant coach at the club from 1998 to 2000.
Since May 2006 Koeman has been the coach of PSV Eindhoven, current leaders of the Dutch championship.
As coach Koeman has won three league titles in the Netherlands, last year with PSV and in 2002 and 2004 with Ajax of Amsterdam. He was also coach at Benfica from June 2005 to May 2006.
