IRIB ready to launch radio channel for tourism

TEHRAN – The Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) is ready to launch a radio channel dedicated to traveling and tourism, IRIB Deputy Director Hamid Shahabadi said on Wednesday.

“We are ready to launch a radio channel [special] for tourism by the beginning of the [Iranian calendar] month of Tir (June 22) [as a pilot project] which could start broadcasting in the national level after a span of three months,” ISNA quoted Shahabadi as saying.

He made the remarks during a meeting with Mohammad Moheb-Khodaei and Mohammad-Hassan Talebian who are deputy directors at the Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization.

Under its 2025 Tourism Vision Plan, Iran is expecting to increase its tourist arrivals from 4.8 million in 2014 to 20 million in 2025.
