Iran, Oman sign MOU on cinema
 
                    
                TEHRAN -- A memorandum of understanding has been signed between Iran and Oman to boost ties on film industry.
The MOU was inked by Oman Film Society Director Faiz Alkindi and the director of Iran’s Farabi Cinema Foundation, Alireza Tabesh on Friday during the Third Dhofar Arab Film Forum, which took place in Salalah, Oman from August 15 to 20, the Farabi Cinema Foundation announced in a press release on Saturday.
Oman TV Assistant Director-General Khalid Abdul Rahim Al-Zadjali and Cinema Organization of Iran Director Hojjatollah Ayyubi were also in attendance at the meeting, during which the MOU was signed.
Based the MOU, the Omani society undertook to help Iranian films premiere in the country.
In addition, the two sides are scheduled to facilitate the exchange of film delegations and working on joint film productions.
“The Islamic world is being threatened by dark extremist and cruel movements of some people,” Tabesh said at the meeting.
“By exploiting the potential of cinema, we can present the human and moral teachings of Islam and the true character of Prophet Muhammad (S) to the world,” he added.
A lineup of Iranian films, including “Colorful Island” directed by Khosro Sinai, “The Long Farewell” by Farzad Motamen, “Sweet Taste of Imagination” by Kamal Tabrizi, “Reclamation” by Ali Ghafari and “Princess of Rome” by Hadi Mohammadian, was screened in a special section during the Third Dhofar Arab Film Forum.
