Calligrapher Abrishamkar-Esfahani Dies at 89

TEHRAN –- Renowned Iranian calligrapher Ali Abrishamkar-Esfahani passed away on Sunday at the age of 89.

Abrishamkar-Esfahani was born in 1914 in Isfahan. He studied radiology at university but was greatly interested in the Iranian art since childhood. He learned basic principles of calligraphy from late Abdoljavad. Following the style of prominent calligraphers such as Mir-Emad Hassani, he chose his style of writing in ***nasta’liq***.
